Seminar
The world has become increasingly uncertain, making it even more challenging to address the gap between “ideal” and “reality” in the global energy landscape. This widening gap is driven by a complex interplay of various complex factors, including escalating and diverse geopolitical risks, rising electricity demand fueled by rapid advancements in electrification and generative AI, resulting in a growing divergence from long-term greenhouse gas reduction pathways to achieve carbon neutrality in the middle of this century. To address these challenges, strategies on promotion of technological innovations as well as securing necessary finance are essential, and such solutions are deeply connected to the industrial policies of individual countries and are influenced by the intensifying competition between nations. In this symposium, APERC and IEEJ will explore the gap between ideals and reality in the international energy landscape, engaging in discussions with leading experts across various fields. The focus will be on the following three key points. ✓ Examining the gap between ideals and reality from various perspectives ✓ Strategies to bridge the gap between ideals and reality ✓ Innovations and measures to overcome the gap between ideals and reality
