This article outlines the purpose of "Electrify Now"—an international initiative promoting electrification powered by renewable energy—and re-examines its alignment with the core SDGs principle of "leaving no one behind." While electrification contributes to decarbonization and energy security, it also raises concerns regarding potential inequalities stemming from factors such as the financial burden of heat pumps and electric vehicles (EVs), the uneven distribution of critical minerals, and disparities in recycling technologies. Countries, including Japan, will need to ensure that equity is taken into account as they advance electrification efforts.
