Globally, many countries in the US, EU, Asia and the Middle East intend to keep or expand their nuclear programs. In particular, some countries in Asia are now constructing new nuclear power plants or are considering introducing nuclear power.
Meanwhile, Japanese public opinion on nuclear energy is still divided and the majority of people would prefer to live without it after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident. In particular, mothers are very concerned about nuclear energy because of its potential impact on their children’s health.
In this symposium, female nuclear experts (operators, scientists, plant engineers, radiologists, climate change experts, administrators, etc.) of major nuclear nations will gather and openly discuss women’s point of view on broad-ranging issues including the role of nuclear energy, the relationship with other policy objectives such as countermeasures against climate change, safety measures and how they should promote dialogue with the general public.
Thank you and we look forward to your confirmed participation.
